First wave feminism

 

·         The number of men and women who stayed single until an older age rose and the age couples got married at increased- this shows independence.

·         Women of all marital statuses were empowered.

·         Women became more educated

·         Women had the right to political views

·          men-politically-subject-sex

·         Contraception became available so women can decide when they want to have a child.

·         High school females participated in national examinations

·         Married women’s property act in 1870  

 

Second wave feminism

 

·         Legalising abortion and birth control

·         Attaining political rights for women

·         Based strongly in working class socialism

·         Women fought for equal pay
